The activities that highlight our quality initiatives are us of AGV (Automatic Guided
Vehicles) for material Handling which reduces material handling rejections and breakages.
We use LPG for firing which has a better dispersion and hence maintainance of equivalent
temperature and reducution in smoke, for uniform tile quality and surface finish.

|
|
The raw material are indigenous mostly but the critical materials are imported to
maintain the quality of products.
|
|
|
|
The people are all well trained with Job specific and Refresher training sessions
to ensure that we move up the quality chart on a consistent basis.
|
|
|
|
The procedures are under constant vigil for improvement if needed. This enables
us to keep our costs in control in the competitive market.

|
|
|
|
Quality Checks and Parameters :
|
|
|
|
At every stage from procurement of raw material to finished product, there are quality
parameters set to keep a stringent check on quality in stages. The parameters are
predefined and conveyed to the Quality Inspectors who in turn are duty bound to
follow the same. The reporting about quality issue has to be IMMEDIATE to the production
head, who in turn is obliged to undertake corrective measures.

Some of the quality checks and its parameters are as under:

Raw Material:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Chemical and Physical parameters are checked with each input of raw material on
daily-batch basis.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Slurry:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Fine to pass through 100 mesh. Residue should be below 1% of slurry. Maintain viscosity
and density of the slurry.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Spray Dryer:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Moisture should be between 4.5 to 5% and maintain granule size as per standards
needed for the production.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Press:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Strength of green tile, pressure for pressing accuracy to ensure proper strength,
thickness and warpage.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Dryer:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Temperature 145 degree to 150 degree Centigrade for removing moisture of green tile.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Biscuit Kiln:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Maintaining temperature as per the parameter.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Sorting of Biscuit Tile:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Check for size, deformation, hairline cracks and water absorption.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Glaze Line:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Composition of glaze; sieve the glaze through 300 mesh and maintain residue below
1%; maintain viscosity and density; maintain glaze weight per tiles depending upon
the size.

|
|
|
Glaze Kiln:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Maintaining temperature as per the parameter.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Finished Tile:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Lab testing for crazing, gloss, MOR test > 150 kg/cm², Water absorption
18% to 20%; tensile test.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Sorting:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Physical quality check for size deformation, color, design.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Machinery and Plant Maintenance :
|
|
|
|
This is an ongoing process at Mod Cera Industries. There are periodic checks and
preventive maintenances conducted. The plant is thoroughly overhauled once a year
in the months of August-September by qualified engineers trained by machinery suppliers
at their plane, abroad.

All the sensitive spares are kept in stock in sufficient quantity for ensuring minimum
downtime.
|
